Ghost vape pen guide: all-in-one or battery and cart?

Ghost vape pen guide: RS11 Emerald Blend and Runtz Essence cart

When people ask for a Ghost vape pen, they usually mean one of two setups. One is an all-in-one disposable, where the battery and oil come together. The other is a 510 battery with a Ghost cart screwed on top.

Both work well. This guide explains the trade-offs so you can choose the Ghost vape pen setup that fits how you vape.

Option one: an all-in-one Ghost vape pen

All our Ghost disposables are all-in-one pens. They come filled and charged, they fire when you inhale and they recharge over USB-C. The slim Emerald Blend 2g models look the most like a classic pen. Larger 3.5 and 7 gram devices are boxier but hold much more oil.

Choose this if you want zero setup and like trying different blends.

Option two: a battery with a Ghost cart

Our Ghost carts are 2 gram, 510 thread cartridges with ceramic coils. You screw one onto a 510 battery, and when it’s empty you swap in a new cart and keep the battery. Each cart is $18, and they’re filled with THC-A, live badder, HHC and THC-P.

Choose this if you already own a battery or want to switch flavors often. We don’t sell batteries, but our Ghost battery guide explains what to look for.

Ghost vape pen costs compared

A 2 gram Emerald Blend pen and a 2 gram Ghost cart are both $18. The cart needs a battery, which you buy once. If you vape a lot, a 7 gram all-in-one at $39 works out cheapest per gram. If you like variety, carts let you rotate flavors without buying a new device each time.

Getting a smooth hit from either Ghost vape pen

Take slow 2 to 3 second draws. On a battery, start at a low voltage, around 2.5 to 3 volts, and go up only if the oil is thick. Keep carts upright so oil stays over the coil. For more on how these devices work, Wikipedia’s electronic cigarette article covers the basic hardware.

Which Ghost vape pen we would start with

New users: an Emerald Blend THC-H Mix pen. Regular users with a battery: an Essence Blend Ghost cart. Daily users: a 7 gram Slide Piece. See also our Ghost disposable vape how-to and the Ghost cartridges guide.

Pros and cons at a glance

  • All-in-one pens: no setup, built-in battery, wide range of blends. But you replace the whole device when it’s empty.
  • Battery and cart: less waste, easy flavor swaps, one battery for many carts. But you need to buy and charge a battery and manage voltage.

Neither is better for everyone. Most people who vape daily end up owning both: a cart setup at home and a disposable for when they’re out.

Looking after either setup

Keep both upright and at room temperature. Wipe the 510 threads on carts and batteries now and then, since a little oil on the contacts can stop the battery from firing. On disposables, keep the mouthpiece clean. If anything gets hot, leaks or swells, stop using it.
