Ghost battery guide: 510 batteries and disposable charging

Ghost battery guide: Lemon Cake Slide Piece and Strawnana Essence cart

Search for a Ghost battery and you’ll find two different questions. Some people need a battery for their Ghost carts. Others want to know how the battery in a Ghost disposable works and how to charge it.

This guide answers both. One thing to know up front: Ghost Carts US doesn’t sell standalone batteries, but any standard 510 battery works with our carts.

Which Ghost battery fits Ghost carts?

Our Ghost carts use a standard 510 thread, the most common connection on vape batteries. Any 510 battery will screw on. Since these are 2 gram carts, they’re taller than 1 gram carts. If your battery has a cover or magnetic sleeve, check that the cart fits inside it.

Ghost battery voltage settings

A variable-voltage battery is worth having. Lower settings, roughly 2.5 to 3.3 volts, keep more flavor and are easier on the ceramic coil. Higher settings make bigger clouds but burn off terpenes faster. If the oil is thick in cold weather, a few seconds of preheat helps.

The battery inside a Ghost disposable

Every Ghost disposable has a built-in rechargeable battery and a USB-C port. There’s no button, since the device fires when you inhale. If the hits weaken while there’s still oil left, plug it in. Most charge in about an hour.

Charge before it’s fully dead, and avoid leaving it in heat. Both help the battery last as long as the oil.

Ghost battery safety

  • Use a standard USB-C cable and a normal phone charger.
  • Don’t charge it overnight on a bed or couch.
  • Keep it out of hot cars and direct sun.
  • Stop using any device that gets hot, swells or leaks.

Lithium batteries shouldn’t go in household trash. The EPA household battery page explains where to recycle them, and Wikipedia’s lithium-ion battery article covers how they work.

Ghost battery or disposable: which to buy

If you like switching flavors, a 510 battery plus Ghost carts is cheaper over time. If you want no setup, a disposable is simpler. Our Ghost vape pen guide compares the two, and the Ghost cartridges guide covers every cart flavor.

Troubleshooting a battery that will not fire

  • Check the charge. Many 510 batteries blink when they’re low.
  • Make sure the battery is switched on. Most use five quick clicks of the button.
  • Clean the contacts. A cotton swab with a little rubbing alcohol on the 510 threads fixes a lot of problems.
  • Don’t overtighten the cart. Snug is enough.

If a disposable won’t fire after a full charge, check the oil level and the mouthpiece for blockages before assuming the battery is dead.

Traveling with batteries

Airlines usually want lithium batteries in carry-on bags, not checked luggage. Rules change and differ by airline, so check before you fly. Hemp THC laws also differ by state. Keep devices in a case so the button can’t be pressed by accident. For more on carts, see our cartridges guide.
